Trying out something new that becomes a new hobby, Cheerleading.
Cheerleading is a combination of dynamic movements from gymnastics, dance, acrobatics, and chanting to boost the morale of sports teams during competitions, chanting slogans, or as a competitive sport.
The term "cheerleader" is also used to refer to individuals who perform these actions. Cheerleaders lead cheers to energize and motivate crowds or spectators.
The Indonesian Cheer Association (ICA) was established on December 6, 2007, as a non-profit organization aimed at developing cheerleading in Indonesia and serving as a reference for practitioners.
In Indonesia, cheerleading is categorized as a sports branch, not just a recreational team activity. It's now recognized as a sport where achievements can be pursued independently.
ICA organizes numerous national and international competitions, including routine basic cheer technique competitions. These competitions focus on showcasing fundamental cheerleading techniques.
Following that, there are regional competitions (KEJURDA), representing each region, then advancing to the national level (KEJURNAS) to represent provinces. After the national competition, there are international competitions representing each country.
Cheerleading encompasses various aspects such as tumbling, flips, and even dance routines, including floor gymnastics.
In the beginning, as a newly enrolled student at SMPN 2 Bandung during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, I became very interested in joining the Cheerleader extracurricular activity. I decided to register and join BARSTWO CHEERLEADER in 7th grade. Due to the pandemic, our practices were limited to once with the coach and seniors from SMPN 2. The first practice was exciting yet a bit nerve-wracking for me since it was my first time participating.
During the COVID era, restrictions weren't as strict, and there was notification that face-to-face school learning would resume, although not fully. Still, we could meet friends, and that's when I was in 8th grade. There, we began more frequent practices and prepared for my first competition, the ICA virtual. Our team won first place in all divisions, and I started to feel happy and deeply interested in cheerleading.
In 8th grade, I had juniors and seniors, and within the cheer team, there were officials: captain, co-captain, leader, secretary, and treasurer. During the handover ceremony in 2022, I was chosen as the captain of BARSTWO CHEERLEADER class of 2023. I was thrilled to be selected and trusted by my friends and coaches.
But with that role, I had a high standard to uphold, to motivate and develop cheerleading further, aiming for more achievements and titles.
The first time as captain, we competed in the Ciamis regional level, and thankfully, we won first place and achieved good results. This led to more events hosted by BARSTWO.
As time went on, my achievements in competitions with BARSTWO CHEERLEADER grew.
1. Champion of ICA Virtual Cheerleading
2. 2nd place in Cheerleader FORPROV IV West Java
3. 3rd place in Cheerleader FORNAS VI Palembang
4. 2nd place in Regional Cheerleading Championship
5. 2nd place in National Cheerleading Championship
6. 1st place in Group Stunt at ICA CUP Bandung 2022
7. 1st place in FORNAS VII 222
8. Champion of ICA CUP 2023
9. 2nd place in Group Stunt at ICA CUP 2023
10. 1st place in KeJurda 2023
11. 1st place in Kejurnas 2024
In my final year of 9th grade, I participated in the national competition and thankfully secured first place. Upon entering high school, my involvement in practices and competitions dwindled due to the busyness of high school activities.
However, cheerleading became a sport I deeply enjoyed, producing numerous achievements for me. What started as a lukewarm interest evolved into a passion, and I found it to be a hobby because it involved a lot of physical training. Cheerleading has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me.
